Overview This newly launched Master of Science program gives you advanced training at the intersection of artificial intelligence and robotics. Taught in English within the computer science field, the curriculum emphasizes practical, hands-on learning so you can design and implement intelligent systems for real-world applications. You will study modern AI concepts—especially machine learning and deep learning—and apply them to robotics problems throughout the program.
What you will learn The course modules cover state-of-the-art algorithms and complex models, including Deep Generative Models, Variational Autoencoders, Deep Reinforcement Learning, Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM), and Robot Imitation Learning. Through practical exercises and project work you will build the competence to independently plan, execute and evaluate sophisticated projects, and to transfer solution strategies to new and unfamiliar application areas.
Career prospects Graduates leave with in-depth expertise in AI and intelligent robotics and are well positioned for roles across industry and research. Typical career paths include robotics application developer, AI developer, IT project manager, consultant, ML architect, data engineer and machine learning engineer.
Key program facts
This three-semester program combines advanced theoretical foundations with intensive hands-on experience to prepare you for careers at the intersection of artificial intelligence and robotics. During the first two semesters you follow core coursework and apply concepts through seminars and a compulsory internship; the final semester is dedicated to a company-based Master’s thesis. Successful graduates are awarded the academic degree Master of Science (MSc).
You will gain practical skills in designing, implementing and evaluating intelligent systems for real-world and industrial contexts. Key learning outcomes include mastery of modern deep learning and generative AI methods, competence in intelligent robotic systems and Industry 4.0 concepts, ability to design scalable AI architectures and predictive maintenance solutions, and experience in interdisciplinary project work and industry collaboration. The program also builds communication and intercultural skills—international students take German as a foreign language at the next higher level, while German students choose intercultural competence or UNIcert courses.
Core structure and modules

This master's programme requires a relevant undergraduate degree and a solid grounding in information technology. Eligible first degrees include computer science or engineering/natural-science programmes that have provided the basic IT knowledge necessary to succeed in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
You must meet the programme’s credit and grade thresholds; candidates who fall short on credits may be offered a compensatory module. If your bachelor’s degree was completed outside Germany, your documents must be verified by uni-assist before you apply to Hof University — and you should allow time for that check.
