Overview The programme is an interdisciplinary master's that brings together business and computer science, teaching students to understand digital technologies from both managerial and technical viewpoints. Curriculum and learning approach Management-focused classes explore how digital technologies affect strategy, organisation and value creation, while the technical modules cover the underlying computing and engineering aspects. You can tailor your study path by selecting elective courses from both the School of Management and the Institute of Computer Science, both of which maintain extensive course catalogues. The programme concludes with a research-oriented master’s thesis, to be completed at either the School of Management or the Institute of Computer Science.
Support for international students and mobility International students with limited or no German can join intensive German language courses during their studies; the first course is provided free of charge. There is also the option to spend a semester abroad at one of LMU’s partner universities. Mobility periods are eligible for Erasmus funding and credits earned abroad are recognised toward the master’s degree.

This four-semester, full-time master's program totals 120 ECTS and blends management topics with hands-on digital technology training. The curriculum alternates between taught modules and project work so you gain both conceptual knowledge (digital innovation, electronic markets, AI for managers) and practical skills (interface design, software development, multimedia production). Electives let you tailor the degree toward business or informatics, and the program concludes with an independent master’s thesis.
The first year establishes core concepts and practical techniques: a larger module on digital innovation and focused classes on electronic markets, AI for managers, and interface design. In the second semester you put that knowledge into practice through a substantial software development project, complemented by a course on managing digital media and elective options to deepen business or technical expertise.
In the third semester you lead a business project while studying online multimedia and continuing with electives, preparing you for applied, cross-disciplinary problem solving. The fourth semester is dedicated entirely to the master’s thesis, allowing you to synthesize and demonstrate the specialist knowledge and applied skills you have developed.

If your written application meets the formal requirements, you will normally be invited to a consecutive two-day online assessment event (typically held in June for the intake year). Day 1 is a written exam with open questions covering both business administration and informatics; Day 2 is an approximately one-hour oral assessment conducted as a group interview with four candidates and two professors (one with a business background and one with an informatics background). You will be admitted only if you pass both the written and oral parts. Note: non-attendance at the selection event results in automatic rejection.
