This English-taught, international Master’s programme based in Wolfsburg prepares students for careers that bridge automotive engineering, after-sales management and service innovation. The curriculum blends academic rigour with close industry ties so graduates can move into technical, managerial or strategic roles within service-driven organisations. The course is especially relevant as digitalisation, electrification and new mobility concepts reshape how vehicle services are delivered and monetised.
The programme concentrates on after-sales and service engineering—a key revenue and loyalty driver in the automotive sector—and offers a distinctive European specialisation that pairs engineering knowledge with process management and customer-focused service strategies. Core topics covered include quality and process management, service engineering and innovation, vehicle diagnostics and communication, data analytics and digital transformation, and intercultural collaboration and professional communication.
Teaching emphasises industry relevance through applied projects, small classes, an integrated internship and an international student body, allowing close collaboration and personalised support. Graduates leave with the ability to analyse and optimise complex after-sales processes, reduce warranty and lifecycle costs, improve service performance and customer satisfaction, and design predictive, data-driven maintenance strategies. While rooted in automotive applications, the methods taught are transferable to transport, logistics, manufacturing, consulting, telecommunications and IT, opening diverse global career paths.
Requirements — what to expect
Program structure and learning approach The curriculum is organised into three interlinked thematic blocks that progressively build on one another to give you a holistic, interdisciplinary grasp of automotive service systems and processes. Modules and seminars are closely connected so you learn theoretical foundations alongside applied, practice-oriented methods. The programme follows a networked approach that trains you to analyse complex service and after‑sales challenges from technical, managerial and strategic perspectives.
Intercultural and language preparation The degree begins with a team‑building event for international students to strengthen social and intercultural skills and to share cultural backgrounds for better collaboration. A compulsory intercultural training module in semester one further develops your intercultural communication abilities—an essential competence for working in global organisations. Applicants should hold German skills at A2 on application; the university provides a free German course during the programme aiming at CEFR B1, which you must reach to complete the Master’s.
Practical training, internship and outcomes Practical learning is central: the third semester includes a mandatory internship with established industry partners to apply classroom knowledge to real workplace challenges and to prepare you for the Master’s thesis. Overall learning outcomes include the ability to integrate technical, managerial and strategic viewpoints on service systems, strong practice‑oriented problem solving, enhanced intercultural communication, and German language competence to function academically and professionally in Germany. Key requirements and mandatory components
To be eligible for this master’s program you must already hold an undergraduate degree in a technical subject. The program expects a completed Bachelor’s (or an officially recognized equivalent) in a related engineering or technical discipline—fields such as mechanical, automotive, electrical, mechatronics, industrial engineering or comparable programs are typically considered relevant.
In addition to formal education, the program requires demonstrable hands‑on experience. Applicants need at least one year of practical work in a technical environment (for example industrial employment, workshops, research labs or substantial internships). International applicants should be ready to document both their degree equivalence and their practical experience with transcripts, diplomas, employment references or internship certificates when applying.

Graduates are prepared for roles in automotive after-sales, service engineering, warranty and quality management, predictive maintenance, and service innovation. The combination of technical skills, process management and data analytics makes alumni attractive to OEMs, suppliers, service providers and specialised consultancies.
The programme’s methods are also transferable beyond automotive: graduates can work in transport and logistics, manufacturing, telecommunications, IT and consulting, taking on positions that require a blend of engineering knowledge, process optimisation and customer-focused service strategies.
