This programme addresses the managerial challenges created by shifting patterns of globalisation and deglobalisation. It equips you to take on leadership and strategic roles within internationally active organisations — from multinational corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises — by teaching core concepts in corporate leadership and strategic management tailored to a changing economic order.
Alongside strategy and leadership, the curriculum provides essential legal and economic knowledge needed to operate in a globalised business environment. Taught in English, the programme is designed to prepare international graduates for decision-making responsibilities in cross-border contexts and to develop the analytical and organisational skills employers expect of management professionals.

The degree is delivered across consecutive semesters with a clear international business focus. In the first semester you build core business foundations: human resources, marketing and corporate governance taught from an international perspective, together with quantitative methods, international business law and international economics. The second semester deepens these skills into areas such as risk management, innovation and strategic management, plus controllership for international firms. You will also work on interpersonal and entrepreneurial capabilities through modules on leadership, communication and entrepreneurship.
The third semester brings integrative, practice-oriented work: an extensive computer‑based business simulation in which student teams co-manage an international high‑tech company, and the Master’s thesis on an international management topic—often completed in cooperation with a company. Two elective modules (taken in semester 2 and 3) let you specialise and shape your own profile. Teaching formats include lectures, seminars, practical classes, workshops, excursions, small-group discussions and tutorials.
Graduates emerge with cross‑functional management competence and an international mindset: the ability to apply quantitative methods and economic/legal frameworks to global business problems; to design and implement strategy, innovation and risk-management measures; and to perform controllership tasks in multinational contexts. Equally important are the practiced soft skills—leadership, communication and entrepreneurship—gained through team work, simulations and company-linked thesis projects that prepare you for operational and strategic roles in international organisations.
The department maintains a broad network of partner universities (ERASMUS+ across Europe and additional collaborations in the USA, Korea, Jordan and Australia), giving clear options for study abroad periods and—in some cases—an opportunity to obtain a second degree alongside the MSc. An internal Internship Unit supports placement searches in Germany and abroad, and company cooperation is commonly used for thesis topics.
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business administration or economics. The degree should normally correspond to at least 180 ECTS credits; equivalence of credits and qualifications will be reviewed after you submit your application.
If your bachelor's program awarded fewer than 210 ECTS credits, you will be enrolled in the four‑semester version of the master's. In that case you must complete an extra 30 ECTS in addition to the 90 ECTS from the master's curriculum—examples include a six‑month supervised internship, a semester abroad, or taking additional modules. If there are more eligible applicants than available places, selection will be based on the overall average grade of the first degree.

Graduates are prepared for management and leadership roles in internationally active companies, including positions in strategic management, controllership, risk and innovation management, international marketing, and HR. The programme’s emphasis on corporate leadership, strategic decision-making and international business law equips students for roles in large corporate groups as well as in small- and medium-sized enterprises. Practical elements—such as the business simulation, company-linked Master’s thesis, internship options and study-abroad/double-degree pathways—enhance employability and provide direct access to industry contacts, making graduates attractive to multinational firms, consultancies and organisations operating in global value chains.
