Overview
This MSc gives you a contemporary business education centered on digital technologies and transformation. It prepares you to advise and guide organisations through digital change, equipping you to engage relevant stakeholders, evaluate digital business models and recognise the impact of disruptive innovation. You will also learn practical idea-generation techniques to drive digital initiatives within companies.
Curriculum and skills
Core modules strengthen your specialist knowledge in areas such as innovation management, change management and process management, while strategic management, organisational development, intercultural management and diversity are woven into the programme. The course is skills- and project-oriented, so you will practise communication, conflict resolution and teamwork and gain hands-on experience with agile project management and coaching techniques.
International experience and career readiness
The programme includes an international component — a semester abroad at a partner university or an internship — to broaden your perspective, build networks and strengthen your practical experience. Taught in English in Heidelberg, this master’s is aimed at students who want to combine business administration know‑how with technological insight to lead digital transformation in diverse organisational contexts.
Programme requirements / key components
This program combines management fundamentals with practical digital transformation skills across four semesters. In the first two semesters you cover core topics such as disruptive innovation, corporate and organisation management, leadership, process and change management, and innovation coaching. You also choose between a data-focused route (Digital Business Analytics — applications, methods and techniques) or a security-focused route (Cyber Security — principles, standards and security management) in semester 1, and between Digital Business Models (development and implementation) or a Cyber Security continuation (tools, technologies and a hands‑on Security Lab) in semester 2.
The third semester is reserved for practical experience: either an internship in industry or a period of study abroad to deepen real‑world understanding of digital transformation. The final semester contains an online course in Analysing International Business followed by your master’s thesis, giving you the opportunity to conduct independent research or a practice‑orientated project that ties together programme learning.
Learning outcomes you can expect:
Completion requires progressing through the four semesters, selecting one elective track each in semesters 1 and 2, finishing the practical semester, and submitting an approved master’s thesis.
