This English-taught consecutive Master's programme prepares students to analyse public policy in the context of rapid social change and complex societal challenges at national, regional and global levels. Designed for highly motivated international BA graduates in political science, sociology or related social-science disciplines, the degree aims to train the next generation of policy analysts who can contribute to better governance and evidence-based decision making.
Students receive a solid grounding in relevant political science and sociological theories together with practical training in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The curriculum combines core mandatory courses with a range of specialisation modules and interdisciplinary electives, giving you the flexibility to deepen knowledge in particular policy fields while developing advanced analytical and communication skills for presenting findings to policymakers.
A distinctive feature is the international comparative perspective: you will critically evaluate how different countries perform and how effective their policies are in responding to social and economic changes. Teaching and supervision are provided by a core faculty of internationally experienced experts in political science, sociology and public policy—staff who bring experience from universities across Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States—ensuring a truly global academic environment.

Applicants should hold a relevant undergraduate degree in a social science subject and meet the programme’s credit and grade standards. Degrees from political science, sociology, economics or closely related social science fields are normally accepted. If your degree was awarded under a different grading system or credit structure than in Germany, the admissions office will assess whether it is equivalent.
International applicants should be prepared to submit official transcripts and diploma certificates (and certified translations if not in English or German) so the university can verify ECTS credits and convert grades where necessary.

Graduates are prepared for roles as policy analysts, advisors and researchers in government agencies, international organisations, NGOs, think tanks and consultancy firms. The programme’s methodological training and comparative perspective also provide a solid foundation for further academic research or a PhD in political science, public policy or related social sciences.
Alumni typically pursue positions that require evidence-based policy assessment and comparative analysis, such as policy development, programme evaluation, advocacy work, and research posts focused on social and economic policy challenges.
