This English-taught MSc programme in Business Administration combines a structured core with flexible pathways so you can shape your studies toward your career goals. Small class sizes and faculty experts emphasize hands-on learning, giving you both solid theoretical foundations and practical skills. The curriculum includes six core elective courses, followed by six specialised elective courses that you choose to match your interests.
You can further personalise your degree by selecting a concentration from a pool of eight options — examples include Business Analytics, Leadership, and Innovation — allowing deeper focus in areas that align with your aspirations. Outside the classroom, a lively campus environment with student clubs, conferences and industry events supports experiential learning and professional development.
The programme also places value on building meaningful networks: you’ll engage with fellow students, an active alumni community and institutional partners to gain practical experience and career connections that help launch your trajectory after graduation.
Admissions & requirements
This 21-month Master of Science program begins each year at the beginning of September. The initial academic phase comprises the first two semesters on the WHU campus in Vallendar, where you build a solid foundation in management through six core elective courses that deliver essential tools and knowledge across general management. You then tailor your profile further by choosing six additional electives from a broad pool of about 50 options.
After completing the on-campus semesters, the programme includes a required internship (in Germany or abroad) to provide hands-on, practical experience. Following the internship you will spend one semester at one of WHU’s more than 200 partner universities worldwide, immersing you in a different academic and cultural environment. The programme concludes with a master’s thesis that consolidates your learning and demonstrates your ability to conduct independent analysis.
The curriculum also offers a double degree pathway for students who wish to deepen their international experience: this option replaces the single-semester exchange with two semesters abroad at selected partner schools and results in a full second degree—typically an MBA—in addition to the MSc from WHU.
Learning outcomes you can expect include a robust grounding in general management, practical experience through an internship, enhanced international and cross-cultural competencies from the exchange semester, and demonstrated research or applied-project skills via the master’s thesis.
Admissions overview
We look for candidates with a strong foundation in business or economics, clear motivation, and a collaborative mindset. Successful applicants typically hold a relevant Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, demonstrate practical experience through internships or equivalent, and show proficiency in English. International exposure is recommended and can strengthen your application.
Application process and interview stages
Submit your application through the program’s online portal on the website. After an initial review, selected applicants are asked to complete a video-recorded interview via Kira Talent (an online platform that lets you record answers to our interview questions). Candidates who progress further will be invited to a final personal interview conducted online.

Tips for international applicants: ensure your degree appears as “H+” on Anabin before applying, allow time to schedule and prepare for Kira Talent and the final online interview, and upload certified translations of documents if required by the portal.

Graduates are well positioned for roles in consulting, corporate strategy, finance, business analytics, product and project management, and leadership-track positions in multinational firms. The programme's mix of core management training, specialised electives, mandatory internship and semester abroad supports both international mobility and practical employability.
Students who pursue the double-degree option or concentrations such as Business Analytics and Leadership may further increase their attractiveness to employers in competitive sectors (consulting, tech, finance). WHU's industry links, alumni network and hands-on experience typically facilitate recruitment into graduate programmes, management trainee schemes and international roles.
